The least we can do.

Now just keep quiet for four weeks so they don’t pardon anyone.

I’m hopeful that those responsible won’t be able to avoid the scrutiny & judgment they’ve got coming.

If Bush does issue pardons, the international community may well pursue an investigation. On that topic, here’s a link to recent Fresh Air interview with British lawyer Philippe Sands, author of “Torture Team”: http://www.npr.org/templates/rundowns/rundown.php?prgId=13&prgDate=01-07-2009&view=storyview

I heard that interview. Was very impressed by it. Especially the part where he says something along the lines of ‘it’d be one thing if, like South African Apartheid perpetrators, there was an admission of wrongdoing. Saying something like, I thought what I was doing was best, but it was torture. Instead, they think it’s a good idea, which means that any of the signatories to the torture treaty are legally bound to do something about it.’
