Fly Me to the Booze

KT and I hit the 2009 California Democratic Party bash, Fly Me to the Moon, at the world famous Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.  Zoom zoom ZOOM!

We were greeted by swanky big band jazz setup prominently in front of one of the first medium range ballistic missiles.  Do wop do wop do ka-boom!

We were served our libations in the re-entry path of the Apollo 11 command module, the trusty chariot that carried home the first men to walk on the moon.  What more did the crew of that mission want when they set foot back on terra firma than a stiff cocktail.  Boy howdy!

There was a (lame) DJ at the event, cleverly placed below a Boeing X-45A unmanned bomber.  It’s programming, to deploy massive ordinance in the event of bad music, appears to have malfunctioned.  Technicians are diagnosing the issue now.

This proud moon landing by the United States of America brought to you by Smirnoff.

Catering central command.  We were very surprised at the level of remote logistics involved in the gyoza recipe.

Quesadillas were grilled in the exhaust of the world’s first operational turbojet fighter, the Messerschmitt Me 262.  Good to see the ole Messy 262 still getting work.

Remember kids, douchebaggery can strike at any time, especially when there’s an open bar in a museum.

Speaker Pelosi in da ho-use!  We also hobknobbed with Senator Boxer, but my camera phone proved a pile of fail when she got in front of it.  Kathy and I did personally extend our mad props to Madame Speaker for her devilish cunning in the production of the Capitol Cat Cam youtube video.

Cheers to you, Space Pioneers!  Watch out for re-entry!
